You know, I told myself time and again that whatever they did next shouldn't matter to me, canon sucks obviously, and whatever crap they end up doing every new season shouldn't affect me so much. We'll always have Paris AUs.

Nope, not working for me, either. I was just bitching about this in my LJ yesterday -- I just can't cope with the idea that YEARS (MULTIPLE YEARS) into Arthur's reign, Merlin is still keeping his magic secret. I just. No. NO. For me, that completely destroys the Merlin/Arthur relationship that I love.

I really, really hope they have a good explanation for it... but I just can even imagine what a good explanation would be.

I'm beginning to think that series 1 and all the series that followed belong to two different shows. The trouble is, the majority of us here fell in love with that series 1 perfection that never came back. Oh, well, we got a few glimpses every now and then, but mostly... almost every character was reset, new relationships were pushed up front out of nowhere, old ones were forgotten like they never existed...

It's sad. One season vs. 4. And what bugs me most, those guys seem to understand perfectly well exactly what keeps bringing people back to the show. They do understand, but they run away from it as fast and as far as they can. I just -- don't get it. Is it the scary scary GAY? But Dr. Who has the same audience slot, and they don't seem in any kind of panic about that.

I just don't get it. :-/

Yeah. Which either means an off screen reveal, or Merlin keeping secrets and staying a servant for YEARS of Arthur's reign.

I do, too, I think we'd all feel cheated if they do it off screen. But Merlin keeping his secret for YEARS after he no longer has to makes Merlin some kind of compulsive liar or a coward, and he's neither of those things. I swore off trying to find common sense in the series writing, but I can't help it still.

At this point? My only hope is that, as usual for the interim, they all speak worse than it turns out to be. I really hope that's the case here as well.

Just the other day I was thinking how my Merlin love seems to have trickled out of me, almost entirely at this point.

And since this is a rage post, I will never understand why they had to go and fuck up Merlin' s1 hair. It's like they're ruining everything on purpose, fuckers, starting with the little things and moving on from there. Looks like we're at major plot fuckery by now.
