Teaching at a university depends on which hat you put on in that five minutes. It's hard to separate yourself from being a performer and a teacher. I love to play. I love to teach. It's hard to decide: is this what I do, or is this who I am?

I want to add something about Dumbledore's being gay. At first I was going to declare a victory in the war for gay educators, but then I decided that "this brings new meaning to the phrase 'Dumbledore's Army'" is more amusing.

Yesterday morning I had my first voice lesson since I was 14. My teacher is pleasant and tiny, and though I was nervous and basically incapable of producing anything resembling my voice, she was very kind. She taught me how to breathe.
