I am kind of confused, though, that you state that Jack was stand-off-ish, and yet, this was a "positive representation of same-sex relationships". You really need to convince Dan to acquire CoE for me to watch...

I should be more specific lol REAL Torchwood (seasons 1-2) was a positive representation, presented as a relationship between two equals. Children of Earth came off feeling stereotyped and melodramatic at best, and mildly homophobic at worst. It took a comfortable, seemingly affectionate relationship and turned it into an awkward and unequal soap opera.
