Comparing the Doctors...

Jun 25, 2007 02:56

I'm interested in comparing the Doctors of Doctor Who. Now, I know nothing of the previous Doctors (aside from 2 eps of Four) so really I'm interested in contrasting and comparing Nine and Ten, because I was just commenting to voldything's recent post on Nine, and I said something along the lines of while I love Tennant and wouldn't trade him for the world ( Read more... )

Nine was a little easier to anger than ten is, I think. A little more... I don't know
Hm, I thought the exact opposite. Nine was making comments like "Mikey, the idiot" or "stupid ape", yes, but in the end, I think that Ten actually is the one, that is more aggressive, with aliens and such. He got the more aggressive scenes, where he doesn't give aliens a second chance. It's not that often, but when he's serious, Ten has a very dark edge to him. I haven't watched the first season for some time now, but I think, that Nine never was this dark.

Ten seems to be a little lighter than Nine, which is weird because he's more emo than Nine ever was, but it's a... I don't know.I totally agree. Nine seemed to be much more.. how can I put that... dramatic? I think Eccleston is just acting very good when it comes to emotional things... I don't really know how to put it, it's just that I always thought that Eccleston made me feel his sorrows and everything. The lonely child, that the Doctor is. Not that Tennant is a bad actor, or that I don't ( ... )

Think of the quote from Smith and Jones on how he's "laughing on purpose. At the darkness". Ten strikes me as a lot more maniac and unbalanced. I've found his characterisation particularly interesting this year with the revenge that he took on the Family of blood when they pushed him too far ( ... )

I love Martha and it's a shame that her character and her family hasn't been developed as Rose and her family. Hopefully there will be more development for her in S4, which I'm so 100% sure she's in.

I tend to find Nine/Rose a bit squicky and I really don't know why. I tend to agree Eccleston is a bit rough around the edges, the reason why we see that so much in Doctor Who is because of the Doctor's relationship with Rose. In the first season the relationship was more mentor/mentoree, but with Ten and Rose they were more even, both learning as they go.

I like David, but for me it's all about Chris, there was just something about him, David is great as the Doctor, don't get me wrong, but Chris could go from silly to unbelievably serious and it was just so seemless..or it's just that I like Chris more, I don't know but for me, it's the Ninth doctor that is my favorite.
