Re-reading The Odyssey

I was feeling pretty sore over the weekend, recovering from my second Pfizer shot, and ended up re-reading The Odyssey (the 1919 translation by AT Murray). I started when I was looking for the quote about the winnowing fan for a Facebook discussion, and then I ended up going back and reading the whole thing.

I hope the soreness from the jab wears off soon.

Your account of re-reading with a different perspective was very interesting, especially the part about the details of the boat building making so much more sense. That's the sort of thing that I might have skimmed over when I was young. The more insightful understanding of the other passages also resonates with me.

Thanks! Feeling much better now, although it did take three days to get over it!

Yes, I think now I missed have skimmed over great chunks when I was young. Very interesting to come back to it now with more maturity and life experience...
