I also have to agree with this. It's not just a KH thing it's a "anyone who plays a kid below the age of 9 thing"

I think it has something to do with a lot of RPers not being around kids that age on a regular basis...but not every kid has a speech impediment and not every kid talks like that, even at young ages.

True! It was seeing a Sora and Riku do this that set me off, though. I haven't really seen any bitty!Kairis around.

They really don't.

Heh, I've been stalking a bunch of RP comms, so I'm pretty sure I saw the same threads you're mentioning. And yeah, the exact same thing bugged me. "I don't think these kids are as young as you think they are." I'll admitt, I myself couldn't accurately tell you how an average five-year-old would act or talk, since it's been far too long since I've been around kids of that age group, but they certainly aren't toddlers. Actually, I find the young trio almost more endearing, with that 'children can be more observant than you realize' vibe. Maybe it's just me, but the baby talk can get old quick.

Offhand, where did the term 'bitties' come from anyways? The meaning is pretty self evident, but all of the sudden I keep seeing it everywhere.

We already know Riku's a lot more observant than you'd expect a five year old to be. I do love the "little pitchers have big ears" idea, and I think it really does fit this trio, which is part of the reason the baby talk is so grating.

I have no idea where it originated - I just picked it up from lynxgriffin. XD

Oh man. I am very occasionally around five-year-olds for my job. Before now, I would have been one of those terribly annoying people with the little kid speak, but having been around five-year-olds, yes, they speak well. What they're talking about might be hard to follow sometimes, but that's more due to their using five-year-old logic, not due to the words they use.

Yeah, they might not have the most solid of ideas, but by that age they can generally at least communicate them. The cutesy accent is not a natural speech pattern to develop in a kid that age.

Sorry, I can't think anything but "WHO LOVES THE CHOCOLATE? EVERYONE LOVES THE CHOCOLATE! NOBODY HATES THE CHOCOLATE, 'CAUSE EVERYONE LOVES THE CHOCOLATE."

Frankly itsy!Riku is enough cute for twelve without cutesy baby talk. Why would you need that, fanbrat? Were his big eyes and super-serious attitude not cute enough for you? IMO Riku is infinitely cuter when he is trying to be all grown up and mature (and failing, because he is TOO ADORABLE FOR WORDS).
