HAI THAR. The previous rant posted here just reminded me just how BADLY I wanted to rant about 411. Because, boy, there's a lot of blind rage I've been surpressing for the past, I dunno, YEAR or so about this.
I know, I never rant unless something irks me really, REALLY bad.
But hey, this is a rant comm, and that means I get to rant! FINALLY some

...I just don't see Marluxia ever wanting to touch Vexen. In his perspective (at least to me) he has a very specific taste. I can't imagine him "degrading" himself enough to even want to sexually assault Vexen. Isn't it easier to just knock 'em off? Which he did.

But that's me. I don't see Marluxia and Vexen anywhere near the same undertones as Axel and Roxas or even Lexaeus and Zexion. They came off as opponents, nothing more.

But that's my perspective. It's just one of those pairings that will never make sense to me no matter how hard I've tried to keep an open mind about it.

I guess that's a matter of opinion and how we interperet canon. 411 is one of the things that can only be done right if it's done well, which is why I like it so much. u.u

Thanks for at least keeping an open mind- I admitt that this rant was spawned from my hatred of how certain groups have turned the pairing into something it isn't, rather than my frustration at this comm in particular. I guess it didn't come off that way- shame on me for not editing ^_^U

Yeah, it is a matter of opinion. I mean, the way I view 4/11 is that it makes about as much sense as Beast/Gaston or Scar/Simba or whatever. Not the same dynamic -- neither Vexen nor Marluxia are heroes or people with underlying good intentions -- but the feeling to me is pretty much the same. One would rather not have to put up with the other's existence.

It's all right. I'm just calmly disagreeing about the pairing as a whole, and I know we won't agree on much except to disagree. XD

XD I've seen it done well enough to validate a good pairing- my opinion is that any pairing can be done well if the writer is skilled enough and the story fits. A lot can be done with a few scraps of canon >.>

Enemy pairings are nothing new under the sun.

People going "WTF this makes no sense!" aren't either.

The two exist side by side, always have, always will. For as long as someone is shipping two people that are trying to kill each other in canon, there will be someone around to ask them if they're mad, no matter how they go about putting the two together.

You're right, and I don't think I made this clear in the rant, but I'm not actually mad at this comm for not interpreting canon the way I do- I'm mad at fellow 411 fans for just slamming two characters together without thinking about it.
The long part about my 'justification' for the pairing was really just to see where I was coming from- even though 411 really DOESN'T make sense unless you're willing to read between the lines, it's logical to a degree. I'm angry that what I see as an interesting and complex pairing is being cast aside for the sake of bad pr0n.

That's just it, though, to a lot of people, there's no basis for it whatsoever no matter how hard you try to read between the lines. They are much more interested in seeing the other person die than they are in seeing them naked. To a lot of people, wanting someone dead entirely excludes any possibility of wanting to screw them.

It should be a pairing full of complex mindfuckery and one-upmanship and if sex is going to come into it, it will only be there as another tool in the arsenal against each other. Fluffifying it breaks my brain. I was okay with the pairing way back when, but I can't stand it now precisely because the grip so many people have on it is so far OoC it's ridiculous. I'm not ragging on the pairing, but really, you are going to have to accept that a lot of people are of the opinion that enemyships do not work. It doesn't mean you have to let them spoil your fun, though.

The way I always interpreted it with this particular pairing is not that Marluxia wanted Vexen dead per say, but as things began to unfold, he decided that executing Vexen was the only way to go. I know that people might not share that opinion, but again I was trying to angle this rant more towards my dislike of the butchering of 411 as a pairing more than anything against this comm or people of a different opinion- I know that the pairing isn't popular in this comm, and I didn't want to sound like the lone 411 fanbrat y.y

Sometimes I wonder if the 'new leaders of 411' even played the same game as I did. u.u Things in the pairing were awesome two years ago, but now they make it sound...so stupid it's hard not to get a little upset.
Really, I was just hoping to get a bit of this anger off my chest. It hurts that something I care about is being treated like crap, and I don't know if my emotions are right or wrong but they're still there and I needed to vent somewhere ;_;

I've actually recently admitted to loving this pairing. I'm usually not into rival/enemy love but I definately see chemistry.

All I can think of is to mention an rp with a particular friend of mine. Where our brand of 411 usually has a minimum of 5 broken bones, blood loss for both parties, and Vexen still generally needs to be smacked around the head a few times and drugged out of his mind or threatened with being reported to Xemnas before he'll not try to freeze Marluxia to death. But then again, same rp is apparently bizarro universe where absolutely everyone wants Vexen for some unfathomable reason.
