Okay, I realize that the newest scene with Axel, Roxas, and Xion is an almost exact copy of the scene with Kairi, Sora, and Riku. But what really get on my nerves is that a lot of people are coming out with

I know that I haven´t been paying much attention to 358/2 days at the moment so I don´t know much about their relationship but I don´t really want to judge until I´ve seen the game.

I don't really like the HERE'S THEIR BFF WHO WAS NEVER EVEN MENTIONED BEFORE bit, but I can't really judge their 'friendship' without seeing what it's actually like in the game.

Although I don't personally believe Axel is Riku's Nobody, mainly because of the vast differences in their personalities (and yes, I know Nobodies are different, but not that different), there is still a large gap of time where we simply do not know what Riku got up to. As far as we know, in the first game and in CoM, he did not lose his heart. But he was shut up inside Kingdom Hearts at the end of the first game, and it didn't really look like a hospitable place at that point.

Also, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on Axel being much older than Riku. I have met 16 year olds as tall as Axel - I can easily see him as being anywhere between 16 and 21.

And lastly, Nomura is fucking nuts. There is a no guessing what crazy shit he's gonna pull out of the bag for this game - he's already retconned an entire character (and no, I have nothing against Xion, it's simply a statement of fact). He's done stuff that makes no sense before, without missing a beat. I wouldn't put turning Axel into Riku's Nobody past him, tbh.

But you know what scares me? Fangirls who constantly insist he's a teenager just so they can pair themselves with him without the "OMG, he's totally older than you!" complaint.

That in of itself is a really dumb excuse. So what if he's older than you? Yeah, in high school two or three years is a REALLY BIG DEAL but once you hit your twenties... it's significantly less of a big deal.

I may be wrong, but I thought that Nomura already confirmed that Axel wasn't related to Riku in any form; Axel was in actuality an experiment in putting a character who was supposed to be similar to Reno (but NOT in fact Reno's Nobody or anything of that nature) into a KH situation.

However - Nomura's notorious for retcon so let's see what happens.

Well that makes sense. I think too many women creamed their pants on the first glimpse of him that Nomura changed his mind.

But I'm sure I did read the above statement (or something very like it) in some interview or another where Nomura was asked if Riku and Axel had a connection.
