Dear KH fanfic! writers,

I understand that many of you like to write AkuRoku. I am not a supporter of AkuRoku, but I can see your reasons why.
However, there is one thing that bugs me:
Has any of you ever written a story which focuses on the friendship of Axel and Roxas? Just honest to goodness friendship.
Seriously, it's as if friendship in many of ( Read more... )

I'm not crazy about the pairing either, but...you know, the writers have a right to not write about their friendship if they don't wanna, just like the people who write about their friendship don't have to write them romantically xD. No one should ask them to write what they don't want to.

Yeah, but at least just write one story about their friendship. It's not like it will hurt. :(

I know, I know, but you can't ask the shippers to do that XD. Maybe a general "hey, where's all the friendship fics at?", but targeting them specifically as if it's their fault there's no friendship fics because they're writing for the pairing isn't going to get anything.

I, personally, am an Axel/Roxas supporter, but I see your point. Well, actually, I have the problem of labeling it as "Axel/Roxas" when it's actually just them hanging out as friends. (But with more than 200 prompts, one has to let things slide.)

But I really agree with princeali_m_fan: us writers can choose to write them as friends or as lovers. But not all of us think in that way.

And if you hadn't gathered before hand, yeah, I have written a story focusing on them as close friends. People can take the "subtext" of the story and call them lovers, but in my mind, they're, oh em gee, best friends.

While I totally hear you on the lack of friendshippy fics in this fandom (so much potential rargh) people don't have to write them platonically if they don't want to.

I went hunting for you, and I found this lovely little ficlet. If that makes you feel any better? :)

Personally, I just prefer to see them as a couple. I think that the evidence canon presents us can be interpreted as romantic or platonic, and I've processed that evidence and favor the former.

Along with what has been said, I believe that the subject of a fic, or any piece of writing, is up to the author and the author alone. I mean, I could try to write a genfic AxelRoxas (or my OTP 411), but I doubt it would be any good because I see theirs as a romantic relationship, and I'm sure that would get in there somehow, whether I was conscious of it or not.

Many AkuRoku fics are atrocious, I know, between the horrible PWP and chracterization problems and grammar errors, there are very few fics that make an effort to be good stories, let alone good romances. But there are a good deal of talented writers who support the pairing and back up their beliefs with logical interpretations of canon, and create works that have them in a relationship while staying true to their characters. I feel like your post undermines the work and skill ( ... )
