Conversely, I've seen someone complaining about how what Demyx is playing is totally not a sitar it is a cittern because she KNOWS ABOUT THESE THINGS and it LOOKS LIKE ONE, and insisting everyone else in the RP refer to it as a cittern because it made her feel smug.

Yeah, and not everyone who plays a sitar/guitar can also play a guitar/sitar, either. I was joking around with a bunch of friends, and we somehow got into talk of a hippie circle, and I was like "We should totally have a sitar in here!". The one guy in my group that is AMAZING on the guitar said "Yeah, but I can't play the sitar..."
