Okay. Rant time. First time in a long while.

I'm sporking a fic down at Heartless fics. It's an old squiffie fic called Euphoria. I picked it because of something I've noticed a lot in the Leon/Yuffie fandom, and I'm not sure if this is common in other ships.

It's the suicide/love thing.

It goes something like this.

Any plot that hinges on Yuffie trying to commit suicide is auto-fail. I'm sorry. DOES SHE LOOK SUICIDALLY DEPRESSIVE TO YOU???

I know they say 'it's always the happy ones...' but still. If yuffie, or the rest of the traverse town gang, where gonna kill themselves, it would probably be after loosing their world to the heartless, not over a crush.

Because after all ROMANCE is bigger than anything else that could happen to a character (or person) in the world (at least according to the fanbrats). The character just lost his/her parents? Walk it off, solider! The character's friends just got brutally in front of him/her? DUDE. A party is just the thing to forget all about them!

But losing their one true significant other? Excuse me, I, the character, must slit my wrists now, kthxbye.

I mean... that's special. And not in the good way.

For some reason, love/suicide seems to be a common theme in the Leon/Yuffie fandom. I don't know why...it always has been, even way back when all we had was KH1. And why is it always Yuffie?! I love that pairing dearly, but the fandom that goes with it is a bit wacky =\

Oh, so it is just that particular ship. I was wondering.

What exactly is it about Yuffie or Squall that screams "I'm gonna commit suicide at the drop of a hat?" Because I don't see it.

Because they're... Squeenix characters? Which automaticly makes them angsty and suicidual?

I have no idea. I've been in the KH fandom since early 2004 and I used to be super active in the Leon/Yuffie fandom. I kept trying to figure out what was up with it, but no one could seem to tell me.
