On emo clichés.

I'm sure you all know of this, but the stereotypical 'emo kid' cliché has been forced upon every single character of this game and every time I ask 'Why do you rape my beloved character?' they always reply 'BECAUSE THEY DON'T TALK AT ALL DURING THE GAME. D8< THAT IS A CLEAR SIGN OF DEPRESSION HOW DARE YOU MISUNDERSTAND THEIR SUFFERING YOU *insert ( Read more... )

Besides, Zexion isn't silent. Man just loves to hear himself talk; my guess is he gives this impression of silence from his ability to make his disdain nearly palpable.

Also. :D I see you're playing a Xenosaga game. :D ♥

Oh god yes. I went back to that game and wondered why people thought Zexion was quiet - the man never shuts up. He has the unique ability to look down his nose at people taller than he, but that doesn't mean he's quiet.

I actually think he talks more than Marluxia.

Yes~ :D Xenosaga one to be precise. AND THE FREAKY SPACE VIRUS JUST WON'T DIE. D:

Of course, this also means that if a character talks merely a moderate amount, it means they're a hyperactive chatterbox who can't shut up! Because EXTREMES ARE FUUUUUN. 8Db

Also, I never understood where the Zexion Is Silent thing comes from, considering in-game he talks all the damn time. I'm almost entirely convinced the emo stereotype stems solely from his hair.

I wouldn't be surprised. Appearance somehow bears a huge factor in how people perceive characters and their personalities...even if the characterization in canon is completely opposite of that. Decent example on that is Ulquiorra from Bleach who looks like the poster child for emo, but is actually pretty non-emotional and all-business. Yup. So emo.

Or maybe they're me, and have learned that if they open their mouth, they're liable to stick their foot in it.

Remember, kids! "It's better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

GNOSIS! Xenosaga! Yay! Which one?

Thank you for understanding something I've been trying to convince people IRL for ages. Sometimes, when people are sitting back and being quiet, it's because... *gasp* they're listening to other people! What a novel concept.

The first one. :3 Although I am terrified by chaos's choice in clothing. SPANDEX AND SHORT SHORTS DO NOT GO WELL TOGETHER KTHX. D:

I know! It's like being a generally quiet person is completely unheard of.

Woo, fun! I haven't played that one in a long time. *in the middle of the third* At least chaos's voice actor in that one isn't awful, though. They change it for Xeno2 and I was like, "AGH, NO, WHY?!" But yes, chaos's short shorts hide NOTHING; the eyes, they buuuurn...

But didn't you know? Humans are social creatures and as such they are expected to actively participate in any and everything having to do with other humans! Or else they're... *shudder* weird.
