Well, one, I'm running under the assumption that the metaphysics of death, souls, and the ilk runs different between FF and KH. Besides, Hades isn't exactly the kind of person who lets people go easy, and the Underworld isn't the kind of place you just walk out of. Or so is my understanding.

I really got the impression that he was trapped there. He does disappear once they get to the stairs out of the Underworld, after all.

Also, I think he's an Unsent in FFX, so he just hadn't...moved on, yet. Ghostly, and all that. I'm a bit fuzzy myself, but Wiki seems to confirms it.

I guess he could find a way out, but...ehh. I dunno. It'd take some skillful work.
