More a art nitpick than a rant
I love art in this fandom. Seriously. I'm thinking about starting a community for KH art if there isn't one. I only follow the art that's posted on LJ or when someone gives me a DA link, but I try not to miss anything. This is one of the few fandoms I've been in where I can look at any style of drawing, or subject of pairings or characters and I'm completely ok with it no matter what it is. It's actually inspired me to get off my art-major-in-college ass and try my hand at drawing the characters myself, but I just have to make light of a few little things I keep seeing get drawn wrong all the time when attempted with two of my favorite characters Roxas and Sora.
You see that? The white tape/ring/fun-with-ink-pens-in-class tattoos, whatever you want to call it is on his middle finger and the black is on his index finger, ok? Not the other way around, or just one color on both fingers, or any of those colors on any other fingers, or the pattern continuing on all his fingers. Just those two in that order. Nothing else.
Those are checkers on his jacket, not zig-zags. I know they look like zig-zags in the game I think they are sometimes just because of someone not wanting to make the individual squares, but I promise they are supposed to be checkers. These are checkers like on his wrist band...
...which by the way is only two rows of checkers. Not 3 or 4 or 5.
Oh and this?
So not a necklace. It's a really fancy zipper. See?
I know Sora has a necklace and they're liekconekted!11 and such, but that's Sora. He does have one; Roxas does not. And speaking of Sora...
He is NOT the same height as Riku. He wasn't in the first one and he isn't now. I see this ALL THE TIME. If you can draw the height difference between Axel and Roxas, it's the same thing for Riku and Sora. Not sure by how much, but the basic thing to know is one is shorter than the other ALWAYS.
p.s.-Riku so got that belt at Hot Topic XD
Oh, and FYI, his hair is not the same from the first one.
They're not ridiculously different, but enough so that you can tell he HAS grown into that fury he calls hair. So if you're using reference pictures, don't put old!Sora's hair on new!Sora's body.
I can't be too hard on Sora's outfit partially because he has more straps and buckles on him than any dominatrix you can find, but a little effort goes a long way. However, If you half-ass his outfit, it's gonna look that way.
There's a few more nitpicks just in general I'm thinking of (RIku's eyes are NOT HUNTER GREEN-WTF?), but these are the ones I see the most and drive me up the wall. I know art is subjective and I'm a detail whore, but please, please, please double check?
