I think the reason why they're more popular with the fanbrats is because they already have a set personality (that gets warped horribly) and therefore, accoridng to their logic, they don't have to really think about how Axel or Roxas would react in a situation. D:
That and the shininess. Can't forget the shiny. (though why their aren't more Zexion fans, I'll never understand, he's shiny as hell.)

You know, it's hard for me to pin "god you are redundant and taking over my fandom" on AkuRoku when Riku/Sora was doing it for YEARS before those two came along.

I know Riku/Sora been around for a long time, that's why I barely like that pairing much. (Yes, I don't follow the usual for some odd reason.*

Sora/Riku has its reasons. Moreso, I STILL think it's vastly a Riku->Sora deal, but in a lot of ways, I KNOW that the three would not want to see the "third wheel" in poor spirits or upset. Likewise, if they had problems, they would TELL EACH OTHER and they would respect each others decisions. No one would turn into a jealous bitch/bastard over it. They want what's best for each other.

I dare say - with risk of being chewed on by insane Sora/Riku shippers - that Riku WOULD let Sora be with Kairi because he would know that they'd be HAPPY, and he wants what's best for Sora just as much as Kairi wants for her boys, just as much as Sora wants for both of them.

Well, it's definitely the hairstyle. Notice the trend in face-covering bangs?
