The next Patrician

Feb 18, 2009 00:38

Since Havelock Vetinari was not elected Patrician of the US, he apparently will remain where he is. But death must come to us all (unless the rumors of him being a vampire are true). So here's today's poll: Who would succeed Lord Vetinari in the event of his death?

Poll

Or maybe someone else? Feel free to take your wildest guess.

It does seem that way. After he fixes the tax scheme (which will annoy the guilds and nobility to no end) he might as well become head of one of the guilds (which would annoy the guilds and nobility to no end) and that really leaves him nowhere to go except back to the scaffold or to the Oblong Office (which would annoy the guilds and nobility to no end). So far, only one other character has managed to annoy the guilds and nobility to no end with impunity, and that's Sir Samuel. He, of course, would not take the job. Period. He might be willing to keep his sword especially sharp, though, just in case the new patrician needed to keep his head level.

I only said Mrs. Cake because I'd like to eat her!
