“Tara, are you OK?” Hermione asked her girlfriend of six months. They were sitting in the Leaky Cauldron, waiting for Harry, Ron, and Ginny to show up. Tara started slightly at Hermione’s question and paused a moment before giving her a shaky smile.
“Yeah. W-why do you ask?” Tara replied, her stutter slipping in despite her best efforts to control it. Hermione smiled reassuringly at her and took the hand closest to her and gave it a firm squeeze.
“There’s no reason to be nervous, Tara,” Hermione said reassuringly. “They’ll love you.”
“Wh-what if they don’t?” Tara asked, looking down at the table. She was still getting used to what she had with Hermione, and she know how much the other woman loved her friends from Hogwarts. She was afraid that if they didn’t like her, that was it for her and Hermione, done before they even got started.
“Don’t think like that, Tara,” Hermione answered, running her thumb softly over Tara’s knuckles. Tara looked up and met her girlfriend’s eyes. “Ginny’s been begging to meet you for ages, and as long as I’m not dating a Slytherin, Harry and Ron are happy if I’m happy.” Hermione leaned forward and kissed Tara softly on the lips. Tara returned the kiss, feeling herself slowly relax at the feel of Hermione’s lips against hers.
They reluctantly broke apart, Hermione resting her forehead against Tara’s. “And if any of them say anything stupid, we can hex them.”
Tara laughed and shook her head at Hermione’s statement. “Sounds like a plan,” she agreed, leaning in for another kiss.
