Picture of the Week: NaNo Approaches!

The forums have been wiped for a new year, and we are officially in the pre-NaNo prep time.  And you know what I'm doing?  Wasting time online and trying to finish a gown in the next two days.

Also, I have to make a peplos for my Halloween costume.  Feel free to offer votes, my friends!  Which of the muses should I be?

Well, you should probably work on the gown, unless you have another dress you can wear. Otherwise, outline and browse the NaNo forums.

(I vote for Erato, for the sole reason of it's a pronounceable name, plus the muse of love poetry. Or Calliope, the muse of epic poetry. According to Wikipedia, anyway.)

Those were actually the two I was considering. I question Erato because I don't know about the instrument that is the symbol. Could I use a laptop as a writing tablet for Calliope though?

You don't have to be a muse, though I am voting that direction. Depending on the theme of your superhero story, Thalia would not be a bad choice. You could just hang a comic mask off your belt for the symbol.

If you really want to be Erato, I've seen tutorials online how to make cosplay lap harps that would work. Or I could try making a lyre pendent that you could wear, and you could wear or carry roses. Otherwise, a laptop would work for Calliope, though I'm not sure you'd want to carry one around all night. :)

I think I'll go with Calliope. I could even use some sort of small notebook (have it attached to my belt maybe?). Though I might have to consider Erato for future years. :)
