I am blessed with a vast array of inciteful, intelligent, well-read, well-educated, open-minded, creative friends on my LJ, so I need to harness the collective genius of my friends list. Because if you live anywhere near a navy base (and, you know, are in the US) you will have seen this:

You are not the only one to criticize those uniforms! There's plenty of criticism of them all over the place, much of it by the guys who wear them.

Stylish uniforms created by committee are famous in the military. They should go back to the whites, with the dixie cup hats and the little scarfs around the back of the neck! And bell bottom trousers that button int he front. And bare feet, so they can climb the masts easier and go up the futtocks and shrouds like monkeys. Yes.

I had to look it up, and I guess the Secretary of the Navy agreed with you.

Before looking, I thought maybe those would be worn on shore in non-shipboard training and at HQ type situations. A friend of mine said that after 9-11 the Army wears their camo to work. Dress uniforms are strictly for official business, like going to the Pentagon for stuff.

Agreed that blue would make it difficult if a sailor fell overboard.
