On my last post, a couple of people were interested in learning how I manage even selvedges when I band weave, so I promised them pics and here they are.
This trick is leaving a loop of weft thread and not pulling the weft tight until you've beat the next shed. This trick was passed on to me by
hunnic_scourge years ago. I think it originated with
petitsyrah .

Some folks just pull it as tight as they can, (with or without this loop technique) but you can end up with something that feels like a board, and not so nice for sewing on clothing. It also doesn't make it any easier to keep the width even.

I don't pull as tight as I can because then warp threads will lay on top of each other if there is any problem at all with the tension.
