Zexion lowered his book slightly, slanting a stare at Demyx over the edge of his glasses. The blond practically vibrated where he was sitting, hands clenched eagerly on the edge of the chair. "Demyx, I know summer's coming. It's May, after all." He raised his book again and settled deeper into his chair, muttering almost self-consciously, "Besides, the next book in this series come out in July. I am well aware of what season it is."
Shaking his head fondly, Demyx sighed. "That's not my point, Zexion~! The sun is shining! The sky is clear! We live fifteen minutes from the beach! The beach, Zexy!" He threw his arms out like he was going to encompass the world

Zexion doesn’t think much when Xigbar told him that he was going to recruit a new member other than to be distantly pleased that there would be another person to foist his duties on. He figures that the new recruit will be like Axel, useful but not much so. Just another set of hands.
He is entirely unprepared for the sudden rush of feeling he experiences when he sees Demyx for the first time, sea-foam eyes glassy and stark in the paleness of his skin.
And Zexion realizes what it is to want.
(This realization only grows stronger as Demyx wakes up to his new life, begins smiling and playing music and laughing.)
Zexion attempts conversation, introducing himself almost kindly, almost… friendly. But the blond musician is only lukewarm towards Zexion, not meeting his eyes and shifting anxiously from foot to foot and always leaving his presence as soon as he can. (And Zexion hates it, hates it, but he can’t do anything, and so he eventually just stops trying to speak with him

This is beautiful. There aren't enough fics out there where Zexion is the one wanting Demyx (even even better when it's not returned to him because I totally picture him as being slightly possessive/possibly obsessive about it).
I declare more Zemyx writers need to add this trend...

I agree, for the most part. (I enjoy happy endings too much for this to really be something I write a lot of, but it actually makes more sense for Zexion to be the one wanting Demyx, somehow.)
