Challenge: [211] Apology
Title: Apologia.
Word Count: 100.
Spoilers: KHII.
Characters: The apprentices.
Summary: The speech for the defense. (Whose world is but the trembling of a flare and heaven but as the highway for a shell.)

You weren’t there. You can’t understand.

He raised us to learn, to need knowledge like air, and then he forbade us to breathe. What betrayal could we commit to compare to that?

We did not know what we were doing. We never meant-

No one knew what we were doing (did he?); there was no word yet for the crime we committed.

Sometimes you get nuclear fission, sometimes you get penicillin, sometimes you get ravenous darkness.

These things are best forgotten, as though the gaping void of memory did not hurt enough. How could he say that? How could he?!
