Attention to small local businesses:

I love to shop local. I prefer to have a relationship with the people
that my money goes to. I have been a patron of small business my entire
life, starting with my grandparents shopping local, seeing the
relationship they had with the proprietors of the places they went to.

God, yes. It has always astonished me how, say, banks, have no hours that are conducive to dealing with people who make money. Canadian stores are even worse for closing early (the grocery! store! closes at 9! Sometimes 8!) but their banks have finally caught on, most staying open until 6 or 7 on most days, and as late as 9 one day a week, plus Saturday hours and sometimes even a couple hours on Sunday.

My bank used to have hours later in the day on Friday's but closed at 5 the rest of the week. Now they close at four M-T and stay open til 5 on Friday. It's annoying.

At least some of our grocery stores are open 24 hours, but the good ones tend to close around 9 or 10.

Agreed. There was a cupcake place near our house that I loved, but they didn't open until noon and by after stopping by after work several times to find them sold out I stopped trying. They were closed Sundays. The only day I could give them business was Saturday. They eventually moved because they didn't get enough traffic.

Good bakeries always make me sad when they close. There is a place like that in Jasper that I tried to get to about once a month despite the hours being annoying...
