Some of you may have read a story I started posting oh ... sometime last year I think it was. I think I finally broke through the writer's block and started posting it on SIYE - partly as an encouragement to myself to finish it. (Now I have to hope I can finish the blasted thing!) Anyway in Chapter 2 Harry is a perpetually unlucky in love bachelor

What, do they think it's going to end up Harry/Luna??? I mean, you're posting it at an exclusively H/G site. It's not at all unrealistic that Harry (or Ginny) went out with someone else in the past. It's not at all unrealistic that Harry's lonely and misses having a girlfriend or that the girlfriend in question happened to be Luna.

I dunno. If they're that picky, then maybe you're better off with them not reading it, you know?

And I love that story, so you better not let them stop you.

Yeah, so I just reread it, and those people need to pull their heads out. I didn't at all get that Harry was "in love with" or "pining after" Luna, just that she was better than, say, the screeching hag the poor boy brought as his date. Like you said, he's clearly arse over elbow for Ginny by the end of the second chapter.

I'll be honest, I'm struggling with the story - but I'm also wondering if I'm just a harsh critic of myself? People apparently adore things that I thought were pretty ordinary (and are full of spelling mistakes!) ...

We know Harry took Luna to the Christmas Party, it's not out of left field that they could have developed something more. I like the story and people are idiots. Ignore them and write it for us, they'll end up loving it too. And if they decided not to read it, then it's too bad for them. They are the ones missing out on a great story.

I think one of the things I object to is the need to tell me "I really have a problem with this ship so ... I can't read your story, if only you'd left it out"

I was SO excited to see you posting this fic on SIYE! I was hoping it meant that you were working on it again (or, even better had already finished it). I agree with the other comments...the scene came across more like "If I were still with Luna I wouldn't have to put up with these hags and wounldn't be alone." He didn't come across as pining for Luna but wanting what being with someone he could get along with meant.

I think you did a brilliant job of creating an OC who was believable and made Luna look normal. And, yes, it is very obvious that Harry has got eyes for Ginny and isn't thinking about Luna. For goodness sakes, GINNY notices him noticing her!

I am bouncing up and down in anticipation of the next chapter...

Don't listen to them Kezza. You're a great writer. The fic is hilarious and is clearly marked A/U. These people just need to calm down. Like you said, if its posted on SIYE its clear which two characters end up together.

Hang in there, please don't give up on it.
