I should've known better than to read the comments to the story. They were all about how he should've been in jail and basically how he deserved it and how at 16 he should have been in bed asleep at 1am. Can you say holiday weekend? It says he was outside his house with his family at 1am. It doesn't say he was robbing a store at 1am. I guarantee that there are a bunch of upper/middle class white students who will be awake in 3 1/2 hours just because they don't have to be at school tomorrow.

I'm sad and pissed off--I had to make myself NOT put a comment because it would have been very ugly.

It's almost always a bad idea to read the comments. They almost always reflect the worst element in the readership; the most racist, biased, ignorant, scared shit-less opinions out there. Especially on a hot night, 1 am for a 16 year old boy is quite different from 3 am for a 12 year old girl.
