Keytus Television Is Open for Business!!
Hello and welcome!
So what's all this, you're probably asking yourself. Well, a few weeks ago, I decided to organize a Sports Night rewatch. That got me thinking about how our all television discussions have been scattered across our own personal LJs and keytuskids. I realized that it would be nice to have one place to discuss any shows we were watching. A moderated and carefully maintained community where all threads were easy to find. And maybe even have a space where the friends that we have made from other fandoms would be able to join us. A mini-TWoP, if you will. So, with the help of ilovehulajosh and gatsbyfan, we've set up this community to do just that.
We've tried to anticipate everyone's needs, but obviously this is a learning experience. Any feedback you would like to provide would be greatly appreciated. You can read the full Rules of the Road and FAQ on our profile page, which I expect will constantly be revised. I've posted the critical questions under the cut.
*How do you pick a show for Keytus TV?*
Shows are picked during the Open Season. Members nominate their favorite shows that have had at least one completed season. Once two other members have seconded the nomination, a mod will grant approval and a general thread will be created and tagged. For shows that have not had a full season run, five members must agree.
*Can I pimp out my favorite show during Open Season?*
We hope that you will! Think of Open Season as campaign time without the mudslinging. Post anything you think will get people interested in your show, whether it’s picspams, manifestos, YouTube clips, charts and graphs or interpretive dances.
*Some shows have discussion threads for every episode, while others only have one thread for the show. Why is that?*
Popularity. These shows have so many members that are follow them, it makes sense to have the space to go more in detail. Occasionally, if the show is only 13 episodes long or less (for example, one of those shows that was killed before it’s time), we’ll automatically consider it for Full Review.
*How can I get my show chosen for Full Review?*
The more members that are interested in your show, the more likely that it will be chosen for Full Review. We’ll take a poll and if enough members are interested (35% of full membership in the future), then we’ll set things up.
*Why the [add expletive of choice] is there only a general thread for the West Wing?! I thought you said this was your show?!!*
It IS our show. It's so our show that its very language has entered our lexicon. You'll often see us use Sorkin lines as a verbal shortcut, as someone once wisely observed. That’s why we’re not going to even attempt a Full Review until we’ve worked the kinks out. Let’s get through Sports Night first and then we’ll tackle West Wing. And, just as a warning,
*What about specials/movies/mini-series?*
Mini-series are fine. They’ll just be treated as very short completed series and automatically considered for full review. Specials and movies (providing that they relate to a Keytus TV show, like Firefly’s Serenity spin-off film or the Dead Like Me Direct-To-DVD movie) will be decided on a case by case basis.
