The section really made me all thinky about animals, the eating thereof, and the ethics surrounding eating, well, anything, really.

I have to read this book. I really like her writing style, and while I don't know that I 100% agree with her on all things, I do think she makes a lot of interesting and worthwhile points. (Then again, I don't think I agree 100% with anyone on all things, including myself.)

Makes me think of this (the relevant part starts about a minute in, prior to that it's just the drumbeat):

I started making friends today with a woman at the farmer's market who raises grass-fed, free-range cows for beef. I'm hoping there may someday be an invite to come see how the whole process works.

I've always loved this track. I felt this long before I heard it. Life feeds on life. I've never felt animals were more or less deserving of life than plants. The ONLY reason I've cut down on meat was to reduce my own overall footprint.
