another strike against circumcision

"Here's an article written by a man who was circumcised (due to 'medical reasons') when he was 30 years old. It's very compelling to read his words about life with a foreskin and without."

Very interesting. My father was circumcised later in life (like within the past 10 years?) due to 'medical reasons' as well. I doubt he'd be comfortable talking about this stuff with me, but I wonder if my mom would tell me anything about things are different for him now.

A family member of Frolic's got circumcised due to medical issues when he was in his 30's. He has since told us that if he has male children at some point, he won't have them circumcised. Yes, he had to go through a great deal of pain getting circumcised as an adult, but he doesn't see that as a va;od reason to do it unnecessarily to a baby.

On the one hand, I am incredibly glad I had a girl because I didn't have to deal with this. Hopefully my second (and likely last) child will also be a girl so I'll be able to sidestep the issue. If it were just me, I would absolutely not circumcise, but my child needs my extended family as well, and we would be disowned if we didn't. So, there you go ( ... )

Er, edit to add: qualitatively different in result, that is. Not in spirit. If that makes sense.
