we're nearly foodless, as we haven't been able to go grocery shopping in too long. Ironically, we have enough fixings to make a lovely steak dinner with baked potatoes and a multiple vegetable salad. I should take the steak out of the freezer. [done ( Read more... )

I have a shoulder immobilizer that would allow you to immobilize your upper arm and shoulder while leaving your hand free, if you need, though it's actually meant to immobilize that, too. Chances are at this point you may need acupuncture or physio-therapy to make it better, but i doubt immobilization will do you long-term good. It may only make it worse; shoulders and other ball/socket joints are weird that way, only stiffening with limitations in mobility. Does heat help or hurt it? Have you tried arnica gels/rubs (e.g. Tiger Balm)?

You also may have hairline cracked the head of your humerus, your clavicle or your scapula when you fell, something that might not have proven all that agonizing at the time but which will interfere a good deal with any future functioning of the joint. The only way to know is an xray. I know, i know, you're waiting for your OHIP card. Just add these onto your list of health care issues for now.

Steak = protein. I'm assuming you eat it, if you're making it, but I can't remember if you do or not. I'm kind of biased because I'm happily omni, but I do feel steak/beef gets a bad rap. Yes, it can be very unhealthy but it is an excellent source of protein and b vitamins. Moderation and preparation is key.

I'm scared of tofu too (the texture is just really unappealing), but I'm in love with Silk Very Vanilla (it tastes like a milkshake!), Sea Salt Soy Crisps (crunchy and salty and so yummy + protein!), So Delicious Chocolate Velvet ice cream (*drooool*), and I haven't tried it, but maybe getting some silken tofu and making smoothies with it. Also I learned in my plant bio class that a peanut butter sandwich with whole wheat bread actually give you protein (the amino acids in the pb and bread create a complete protein), but I just remembered that you try to stay away from gluten. :/

for the yoga timing, if you can get your hands on a tape recorder, you can record yourself ringing a bell or something every 30 second, and maybe a double ring every 5 minutes...i guess youd have to be home alone for a while though.
