Oxfordshire in the freezer

I've been out bird watching/church visiting today. I attach a few snowy pictures to set the scene, however I have to say the memorable feature of today was the wind chill. The air temp varied between zero and minus two but it felt much worse. Hat, scarf and gloves weather.

All very peaceful. And empty, which is not surprising with the cold. Brrr. This winter is stubborn.

I kept passing the same stubborn pair out walking - a tall man and short woman with frizzy red hair. I passed them once, I overshot my destination and passed them a second time, then I visited a church, carried on to the next and passed them a third time.

I was probably the only car pest they met on that walk. They gave me a LOOK.

Very pretty. Of course we would also mock anyone wearing a jacket for -2C weather, let alone hat, scarf and gloves.

And presumably you all faint from heat stroke if it climbs to over 60?

The weird thing about this weather is that it's happening in March, instead of January. It is against the laws of God and nature - and it is killing all the crocuses (the daffodils don't care).

A virtuous outing to be sure.

The bird reserve is a big flat open marsh, and it was so cold I saw a man wearing a pair of socks on his hands. But really, it was perfectly normal January weather - just in March.

In America we have these things called gloves. You can get them almost anywhere.

I'll mail you some.

Oh pffft - who needs gloves when you have a spare pair of socks in your rucksack?

The wind chill is the killer isn't it? I love the church photos :)

Everything looks prettier in the snow, doesn't it? I must do a proper church post so you see the insides too.
