post-Thanksgiving desertion

I came to work today because I wanted the $ and I actually have some work to do in preparation for this huge work thing we're having next week, but I feel like a little lost girl in a wasteland of empty cubicles. The clacking of my keyboard is echoing through the hall ( Read more... )

I didn't know you were actually coming back today! I am all interested to hear about the story. Sometimes you've just got to start it and it's like pulling out the cork.

Also, I want to hear about Tuesday night. :)

I stayed at my parents' last night and drove to work from there, but I'll go back to my home after work tonight.

The story is...interesting -- I mean, really not a difficult thing on the face of it, but I want to get it right, so I keep dancing around it. I want to be writing, now that I've finally gotten into the habit of it, but I haven't figured out yet what I want the story to look like (beyond the vague images of perfection in my head *g*). So I'm kind of anticipating it, but also nervous.

Tuesday was fun! I was going to write up a post on it, but then thought I might jinx it *g*. We went out to eat in Little Italy and then for gelati after, so I had my carb allotment for the month *g*. He called the next night (I was out) and wants to go out again, so I'll call him tonight to set something up. He's nice -- totally a good Catholic boy you take home to your parents, but I counted two geek references (Star Trek and Star Wars), and he's got a decent sense of humor. I'll give you more details in chat *g*.

It sounds like one of those stories you're not quite ready to talk about yet. Maybe you need to let it live in your head a little while longer.

Details! Please! I'm glad it went so well. :) Are you going to give him the grocery test?

you start out with a story in your head and it's perfect, and then as you get it into words you eventually have to accept all its imperfections.

Bah, I know what you mean.

I have to admit, I am so, so happy I didn't sign up for Yuletide this year, because while I feel like I get so much out of it after the fact, it still turns me into an insane person for two months *g*. But I will be sending you supportive vibes!
