You may need a bigger tarp, I usually set it up on a top of a tarp slightly larger than the tent (folding the edges in under the tent) and rarely had any problems with water getting in the tent even during very heavy rains. That said it is getting old and may need a new dose of water sealant along the seams as well.
Also if on even a slight slope make sure the door is on the downslope end, that'll help keep the water that gets in when you open and close the door from running into the rest of the tent.
