Helloooooo LJ!  So look, I've been here in balmy England, seeing people and doing things and otherwise living life, but I have been crap with the photos and the updates, because without a working smartphone, where I can just hit 'post to facebook', I've been taking pictures on my camera, and then I have to upload them to the computer, and then I ( Read more... )

I'm SO CHUFFED (ahem) that they still do the Steam Fair. I was just thinking about that the other day.

The Pavilion was built by the Prince Regent, near the end of the 18th century because he was a spoiled, self indulgent twit (like most Royals!)

The church is St. Peter's, I think. There's been a church on that site since, um, forever... ;)

I liked Brighton. It has a very bay area feel to it.

When people ask me to describe Brighton (or even when they don't) I say it's a lot like Santa Cruz. A big college campus, a big seaside economy. And it's the heart of the gay pride movement in the UK, which is even better. ;)

Hunh... Like, real steam things... Here I assumed it was Steam Punk or something similarly fashion-focused. :)

I know, when we have steam fairs in oakland they involve much more...fire. And punks. And hipsters. And robots. But this was super cool in that...authentic traditional kind of way.
