YnM Fic: Taking the Victory [PG; implied Tsuzuki/Hisoka]

Nov 12, 2006 01:16

So. Who ever thought they'd be seeing fic in this fandom from me again? I checked my website and it's been just over two years since my last Yami no Matsuei fic. It was surprisingly easy to get back into it, even if I had to look up how to spell JuOhCho again. Something like a future fic. Begun for contrelamontre's foliage challenge; finished when wordsofastory didn't ( Read more... )

As you may have guessed, I like slow character fic. ♥ I like the contrasts between time and changelessness very much.

...been a long time since I've read YnM as well. *facepalm*

YnM seems to be the fandom that brings this out in me the worst. *facepalm* Damn Tsuzuki.

I know. My anime and manga translations are at home somewhere, so all I had to work with were the general info sites. That was fun, let me tell you.

Thank you for reading!

Oh, this is lovely. I adore the sense of change in this, how they're not quite the same people we knew in the series, but are recognizably older. And I adore stories that can do that with the canon, go way outside the timeline we already know. Eee! So, so good.

And ch, as though anyone would mind you in the fandom when you bring such good stories.

I was trying to be subtle about it, but I think at some points I just wrote bits that should have said in neon lights, "Yes, they're older, see see see?"

You're so hard on yourself; I thought it wasn't too 'tell' instead of 'show' at all. I loved all the changes to them, but I thought it was very believable.

Hee. I do love an angsty Hisoka.

In the end, I firmly believe that Tsuzuki and Hisoka are the type who just will never be able to get over what's happened to them. They'll be able to function normally, to a degree, but they're never ever forget and they always will have some sort of hang-up about it. They're just... broken, in a way, I suppose. The manga is awesome, and way more in-depth then the anime. You way Hisoka is drawn in the manga is far superior to him in animation. I might; I thought I'd left this series behind, but I guess this just proves that I never can leave any of my fandoms properly behind.

The last volume that was put out, volume 11, is literally this-close to some sort of revelation or climax, and then she went on goddamn hiatus.

I've always had a story kink for YnM fics set in a future setting, and this hits it very nicely. Feel free to wander back into the fandom anytime, I certainly wouldn't complain. Thank you for sharing!
