Oddly enough I didn't even blinked at first at the title. Then I saw "inspired by Kurosawa Akira" on the opening credits. And I told myself, "gee I got it! Well then it CAN'T go wrong!!" Right

Samurai 7?

"Samurai 7", it's the title of the anime, isn't it? Never heard oif it so far and I must admit I haven't been much abreast of the new anime releases in Europe. But this one sounds kind of funny. The story reminds me of a short movie from the "Robot carnival" series I saw quite long ago on ARTE. It was about a fight betwenn two mechas in 19th century Japan - one being made in America, steampunk-style entirely made in steel and the other one in "Meiji technology" (made of woods and old mechanics). That was rather funny.

Yep, it's the title. I ver much doubt it's been released in Europe yet though, we got it as fansub (Lunar-something group), so it's not even licensed in the USA yet. It's very clearly inspired from the Seven Samurai movie in any case, and I'm glad that so far it hasn't turned out in some stupid series just made to show "kick-ass robots". Uhm, actually, you don't even get to see the mechas that much, which is fine by me.
We've watched 3 more episodes since yesterday, and it's still retaining the same level of interest, and even more, so that promises good things! :)
