Out there
A vast ocean of
The disinterested
Not so much deaf as
Numb
Desensitised
Self-protecting.
The sensationalists
Who poke and prod
With sharper and sharper sticks, are
Trying to seize, to overwhelm
Their attention.
Eyeballs can be bought
And they want
Their piece of the action.
Hence, indifference.
The shell, the armour
Against a clamouring world.
