Not that long. Half an hour for each braid. Though the setting-up for the Marudai took almost as long as the braiding, particularly for the 70g spools because I needed to look up how to tie them correctly.

Just beautiful! I have to confess that this is not a craft I've tried--yet. Your descriptions make me want to though.

Yep. That goes for pretty much any sort of thread-craft, doesn't it?

Your descriptions make me want to though.If you want to give it a go, then the entry-level thing to do would be to buy a Kumihimo platform -- disk (round) or plate (square) -- because they aren't expensive. There are advantages and disadvantages of a platform versus a Marudai ( ... )
