The US is the third top oil producing country in the world, after Saudi Arabia and Russia, at 8000 barrels/day (Saudi and Russia are 10,000 and 9,000, respectively). That 8000 bbl/day only meets 40% of our consumption: 20,000 bbl/day. Worldwide production is about 80,000 bbl/day. 25% of the oil is used by 5% of the world's population
