There's so much WTF in this but I'm stuck on "custom branding". I suppose engraving is for the fancy schmancy can grips.

Seriously, I've only heard branding used for livestock before. Am I missing something?

Branding as in product brands. Like Crazy Ed's Cheap Cars would have a run made with their logo. See here for some of their stock examples.
