AKICOLJ: identify music

I've had this piece on my mind for weeks. I'm certain that I've heard it lots of times on Classic FM or Radio 3, but haven't found anyone who can identify it. Very probably as soon as someone does name it I'll go 'duh ( Read more... )

... And the reason you think it's an Ave Maria is because of Rutter's Christmas Lullaby, whose chorus bears more than a passing resemblance to the tune. ;)

Aha! Thanks, I knew that I didn't remember the Handel words at all. It wouldn't surprise me if someone else had 'borrowed' it as well.

(I apparently put more runs in the bass than were in the original. Quel surprise, given my tastes in playing bass *g*...)
