It was the best of times it was the worst of times (Closed to Legolas)

Willow was very excited to have her friend Tara here because it was Tara and because she got her more than even Buffy did. Willow assumed it was the magical background and the same interests in books and other geekery things. What she felt bad about, even though it hadn't happened to her yet was that she didn't feel for Tara what Tara felt for her ( Read more... )

After the fashion show, Legolas spent some time at the Botanical Gardens learning what his new duties were. He enjoyed the gardens and he liked Winifred a great deal. Samwise had not been there when he had, but Legolas looked forward to seeing the hobbit soon. When he had completed his tasks, Legolas made his way home, stopping on the way at the grocery to purchase a few items for making tea and bread that he had been missing.

The elf was surprised when he arrived home and Willow was not there but assumed that she was still at school speaking with students or working. He set about making tea and setting up new starter for the bread he would bake later. Legolas was still in the kitchen when he sensed Willow was near, then heard the door open. He knew she was agitated and as she closed the door, he walked into the front area to see why she was distressed.

"Not very long, no," Legolas responded. "Willow, what is wrong?"

Realization struck when she felt his concern through their bond that he was feeling her nervousness. Plus she had a horrible poker face. She smiled softly, "nothing bad I promise. Just something that you should know about." Her teeth nibbled at her bottom lip. "A friend entered the village today. Her name is Tara and she's a witch, too. She's a lot stronger than I am. Well she was when I came here two years ago. I'm not sure now."

Willow was aware that she was babbling. "Um, she's from my future. Well possible future I guess or maybe alternate future. Sorry. Babbling. Anyway, um in her time we're kinda together together." She rushed on to say. "Not in my time. I mean we're just friends. Just getting to be friends really."

Legolas watched Willow, concern growing over her anxiety. Then he realized why and nodded, moving across the space to stand in front of her. "So, to her, you are her lover and to you, you are newly found friends." It was easy to see why this had caused such anxiety for Willow; it was a difficult situation. Legolas pulled Willow into a tender hug, then pulled back and looked into her eyes. "Come, Willow. I have tea made. I will get some for both of us and we can sit and talk this through." The elf led her to the spot of thick, soft grass poolside that they favored when they wanted to sit and talk.

"I will return in a moment."

Willow hugged him back, thankful for his understanding. She was so lucky. Both Tara and Legolas were taking it well. Willow could see how she'd fallen in love with both. Or other her. Whatever.

"Thanks. Tea sounds great." She settled on the ground and waited for Legolas to return. As she did, Willow thought of the conversation with Tara and the memories that she had of her friend from Sunnydale. They were kind of hazy after two years but she did remember Tara had risked her life to tell her her suspicions about the Gentleman. And she'd saved her life by using her stronger magic to push the vending machine against the door.
