So I just found my bank statement from 2004. August 2004 to be exact. I paid ABF Transportation a sum of $1,405 to pay for my ex's moving expenses. I only had $1,833.64 in the bank at the time. That's a big chunk of change to spend on moving, though matches what my moving cost within state ($2,000+ with all of the rental deposits, geesh!). All the best in continuing to save. I like to follow Clark Howard's advice about having 6 mos. of expenses banked up - it's a nice peace of mind. :-)

I hear ya. I received $4k last month as a total surprise from my grandparents and I've been holding on it as a safety net. I've been totally grateful to have been so lucky. And most certainly could have used it years earlier, but life is full of challenges so there is little to complain about.
