because of my husbands death so near to christmas last year
we have had to develop some new ways

the tree - fruitcake - cookies - remain
last year i made and sent cards only to people who needed to know
this year my production will be bigger
usually on my cards i just write
Blessings - it's what i want for people
from whom they can fill in themselves

last year on the 23rd we went with friend to a fancy restaurant
beautiful with sparkling light
and wonderful food
but expensive
we are thinking about making it a tradition
last year it was salvation
when we felt dark

we did not send gifts last year
the family did not expect any
this year i bought things from craftspeople i know

as to christmas song
i love Grandma got run over by a reindeer!

I love how you're reinvented your Christmas traditions. I also love your choice for favourite Christmas song.

Blessings.

I'm glad you liked it. I loved your pick for best Christmas TV episode. I forgot all about the Bleakening. We're huge Bob's Burgers fans in this house!

We have a couple of traditions.
- Usually the 3rd (but this year, its this coming weekend and the weekend of my birthday as well, grrr.....bah humbug for it this year) weekend we have a family Christmas for my mom's side of the family. Its down in the southern part of my state (I live in MN and in the central part of the state as well).
- We have a day that isn't on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day that we celebrate Christmas with my immediate family plus my sis-in-law and 2 little nieces. (This year it will be on the 23rd of this month).

Those sound like good traditions that give you a chance to keep in contact with family.
