Calling Occupants of LiveGerbil Land

Jun 04, 2015 11:39

seaivy was writing in her journal about people jumping ship from Livegerbil. A lot of people have done so, and now when I look at my friends list, a lot of them are people who were once very active posters, but who haven't darkened the door of this place in years. I miss many of them, especially some of whom became IRL friends, and who I would meet if I ( Read more... )

Here I am vowing to try and post more, and nothing (not even responding to comments) for four days. To quote one Charles Brown, "sigh!"

I think many have the same to say about LJ, there have been a number of friending memes going on to help people get to know others, I seem to have an assortment of ages on my list, and I do like that.

I'll still be around, I have no intention of going anywhere else.

I do think some of our interests and passions change or diminish as we get older, but in some cases these are replaced by others.

John Lennon said it best: life is what happens to us when we're making other plans.

I haven't jumped ship although haven't been posting. I still can't figure out why. But like you I doubt I will ever abandon completely because of all the memories logged here. I also still read although don't comment as much. I need to get back on the computer where its easier to type and off the phone.

I always tell myself that I'll post when I feel like it, and if I don't feel like it, I won't feel obligated to do so (even though I do feel obligated.)

I find that I don't comment as much anymore and I certainly don't read every day. My friends list is also much smaller now than it was a decade ago. With all that being said, however, this is still my primary home on the Internet and while I don't comment as often I am always happy to hear from you and my other active friends through entries in your journal or comments in mine.

Likewise. I must admit though, my interest in your journal intensified when you became a resident of the Dominion of Canada. Somehow that sounds so un-Canadian.

Hah! I can't say that I blame you in the slightest ;)

In the first couple of year that I was on LJ all my friends were from the Vig/Bean fandom communities.

Now they are mainly normal domesticated people going about their normal domesticated run of the mill lives.

I like that...I like to hear of the day to day lives of people who live on the other side of the world, especially if they post a lot of photos of their local environment and lives.

So yeah now that I'm out of fandom my flist isn't so active but my LJ experience is a lot more satisfying.

Reading how you, Seth and Abbey are getting on adds to my LJ pleasure.

This makes me wonder if fandom has become a passing fad, or if it still goes on, but we just never hear about it.
