Transferred Enlightenment

We've got a fellow who has been in the dojo for about two years now. Nice enough guy. Great psychologist. Sometimes a little slow on the uptake on aikido, but his learning problems become learning opportunities for me.

Case in point: this evening.

I'm not sure I agree with the 'last recourse' idea. After all, as you mentioned another year of lecture may of brought the student to the same point. Another reason I am not sure I agree with 'last recourse' is I'm familiar with the teaching method as well; I call it using a mirror because the teacher is indeed mirroring the student's actions.

As a teaching technique, though, its application is limited because the student must be in the proper frame of being to accept the mirror experience. If they aren't then they don't see the mirror, they don't see themselves; they still see only the teacher.

Now, what does that say about you?
