What to do with an uncontrollable, inconsolable, screaming kid?

Old School method... lock them in a broom closet until they settle down or their parents arrive. No Cops, no fuss.

New School method... do that, and get sued by angry parents. Involving the cops is an ass covering ritual, necessitated by over litigious parents who strive to take away any tool of discipline out of anyone's hands but their own.

Admittedly, it sounds contradictory and self-abusing coming from a lawyer, but I can't STAND litigious people and the mode of behavior where every single human interaction is done in contemplation of potential litigation.

I've said it before in other forums, not all bad behavior should be criminalized.

And since when did school fights get your arrested, I thought detention hall and suspension and not getting to play at recess was what 8 year old kid punishments. I mean I can understand maybe if some kid went crazy and started stabbing people or shooting people with a real gun then yes call the police but seriously, this?~!?!
