It's been half a year since I last posted, and I'm not going to make the usual excuses / promises that I always make.

I have been suffering horrendous writer's block.  But that may be changing.

And lately I've been doing some fact-checking.

Ooooh tease, hope you sort it. I'm reading Tigers and Devils for about the 5th time. Still making me laugh and also a little bit peed off with humanity

It was interesting to read your comments about observations on Australian customs. I am also an author and always seem to run up against the same accusations, which, in a nutshell, can be boiled down to: I am not an American: I am not British. For some reason, it is expected that cultural differences will be negligible dur to the fact that we all share a language. Australian men drink a lot; they used to smoke a lot; they swear to an inordinate amount (more so when women are not about). We live in a culture that espouses and glorifies mateship, yet superficially abhors male to male sexual experiences. It is NOT the same in the USA nor in the UK. Read our works and take into account that we are different, we are exotic compared to you, but above all, we are NOT YOU. (This post was in reply to yours regarding the criticism of men drinking a lot in your books)

About the drinking, I am English and we do drink a lot of alcohol, but our spirit measures are tiny. I went to New York and had a Vodka Tonic and I could barely get 1cm of tonic in the glass. Here in England the whole bottle of tonic would have gone in. Maybe it's a question of the different measure system. I was plastered after 2 of those where as it would take about 10 of our equivalent to get to that stage. Just a thought. I prefer a nice cold pint of lager personally. I don't think the drinking is over the top in your books, it's pretty normal.
