I have read part of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I have to admit though, I thought the language was a bit too hard for me to read (yes, I have it in English) and I gave up :-(
I have the BBC series on DVD and I just love it. It is a great story. It is just that my English is not good enough. Oh, okay, this made me sad. :-( I did learn the word undulating from reading that book though, and that comes in handy in fanfic! :-)
