It's amazing, watching these old Muppet Show episodes again, and seeing them as an adult, rather than as a kid.

Case in point:

In the episode with John Cleese, there is a sketch where Miss Piggy - dressed in a wedding gown and made up to look incredibly pregnant - sings a duet with Kermit... entitled, "I Can't Marry You, Today - My Wife Won't Let

Ha!

I am getting a lot more of some of that stuff watching them as an adult. And the monsters are a bit less scary.

I need to watch that. That and Fraggle Rock.

I don't know why, but I always liked Statler and Waldorf.

When I grow up, I plan to be both of them at the same time. This should amuse me for hours to no end.

That's hilarious. I'll have to see what vintage programming they might have at the local library.
I am often a bit shocked when I see the kinds of thinly veiled dirty jokes embedded in children's cartoons, apparently for the parents'/babysitter's benefit, and wonder if in the internet age they are actually making it over their heads.

We've just introduced the kids to the original Muppet Show and they're loving it. Time to buy the DVDs instead of just renting them from the library.

The Muppets were always an inspired show. I'd love to see them again. I still have my Kermit the frog in a suitcase in the cupboard ;-)

I have a Kermit the Frog circa 1976. He's in remarkably great shape, considering the fact that I played with him All The Time when I was a kid. I only had to do some touching up of the black on his eyes, a couple of years ago, but otherwise, he looks as timeless as ever.

I don't know if that says that I was careful with my toys as a child, or if they just made toys better, back then. Or both.

That's a wonderfully early Kermit. Mine isn't that old but it's close. My eldest son was born in 1976 and I know I got Kermit when he was very small. I think you were careful with toys, but they were well made back then too. Ben had everything to do with Star Wars and the quality was SO much better than the stuff that's for sale these days.
