He enjoyed his chin skritch. Hey...I'm going to pick your brain for a sec...
He's been eating pretty well and drinking fine, but his cefa-drops have been making his poo a little runny, and when I gave him his dose earlier tonight, he very shortly started salivating, panting, and then threw up. I know puking is one of the primary side-effects of cefadroxil, and he kept eating and drinking shortly after he threw up, so he must feel alright in the tummy. I really don't want him to miss a dose...should I try to re-dose him, and maybe just space it out into like three mini-doses? He's getting 1.5 ccs 2x/day, so three doses that add up to 1.5 would be very tiny. I think that should be alright, eh?
I think in terms of giving his meds that might work well, but I would check with your vet just to be sure that giving it at a smaller dose, even if more frequently, won't compromise the effectiveness. I don't really have any experience with cefa-drops, so I don't know if it's standard to break up the dose if there's negative side effects, or if they'd just rather switch him to a different antibiotic altogether. I'd give them a call in the morning just to check, though your idea is probably fine :)
Thank you, his gorgeous little face is helping me focus. He looks like such a gentle sweet kitty. I hope very much that he will be feeling better soon.
Thanks so much. It's strange, but I went to scritch under his chin just now, and he seemed to enjoy it (he hasn't been lately...too lethargic to stretch his neck out!). I think there's a lot of kitty love going around right now.
I think extra love sent out can really help. I sometimes give my animals reiki and they lap it up. I am glad to hear he is enjoying your scritches. *hugs to you both*

Give him a skritch on the chin for me, and let him know I'm pulling for him and you :)
